MISSING from Anchorage, Alaska. Mason was last seen at 6:00am in the 14000 block of Venus Way in Ocean View. When Mason left home he was intoxicated and broke his phone. He has no ID, no money, no bank card etc. Search efforts and a police investigation are currently active.
Mason is a spirited 16-year-old with a passion for gaming. From Rainbow Six Siege to Valorant and Roblox, he dives into virtual worlds with enthusiasm. Despite his youth, Mason is set to enter 11th grade, having breezed through his 10th grade curriculum and poised to graduate a year ahead of schedule.
Beyond his gaming prowess, Mason's intelligence shines brightly, hinting at the promising future he holds. But it's not all pixels and screens for Mason; he finds solace and excitement in the outdoors, particularly while salmon fishing on the Kenai River, a skill he's honed alongside his father.
Family vacations to Maui provide moments of pure joy for Mason and his loved ones, where he revels in the sun and surf, showcasing his impressive swimming skills in the ocean. However, amidst his zest for life, there lies a tender heart marked by tragedy. Mason's older brother, Caleb, passed away in 2015, leaving an indelible imprint on him and his family, shaping his perspective on life and loss.
We have received information from two of Mason's friends that he spoke about running away to California, but his friends reported Mason didn't provide any details. Since then, we have asked for an increase in flyer distribution in California and especially in the San Pedro area.
We have not given up hope that we will see Mason again. At this point, if we could communicate with Mason it would be to say how much we miss him, love him and just want to talk to him. We recognize he may not want to be home and would respect his decision; we just want to know he is okay.
David & Marty, Mason’s Parents
Mason leaves home after he was caught drinking. As he walks away he is visibly upset and breaks his phone.
During the first few days, we went door-to-door acquiring information and security footage of Mason. We were able to see that he had gone down our street then turned right. At that point there was no other footage.
We were able to access some social media and gaming accounts, Discord, Snapchat, Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant, and Roblox. This produced some information leading us to communicate with the last people to talk with him. They have not heard from him since May 18th.
We blanketed our area with flyers, and since have expanded our flyers to areas in close proximity to Anchorage, as well as some flyers in the Mat-Su and Kenai Peninsula regions.
We had two certified drone operators pilot the wooded, coastal area near our home, with nothing sighted.
Community searches took place using Cabelas in South Anchorage as our meeting spot. The community hung flyers, went door to door and engaged the public to spread awareness for Mason's disappearance.
In the second week of his disappearance, we were able to get local Search and Rescue, with six teams of dogs to search the large wooded, coastal areas near our home. The dogs found nothing and no scent to track.
At this point there have been numerous reports of people that resemble him, but after making contact with many of them, we still have not located Mason.
Mason turned 17 years old on this day. It was by far one of the most difficult days for us (his Mom and Dad). That morning, at 7:00 A.M. I received a text message, "Long time no see, I hope you are all right. :-)" The number was unknown to us, but was found to be a number originating in San Pedro, California. We cannot get any further communication from that number but we continue to call and text it regularly. Unfortunately because no crime has been committed, the police are not able to track these types of calls. We definitely hope and want to believe this was Mason telling us he is okay. That saying, "long time no see" is definitely one our family uses and would be something Mason would say.
It has been 10 months since Mason has been missing and unfortunately we do not have much to update. Although the frequency has decreased, we occasionally receive communication from community members with reports that they think they have seen Mason. When pictures are shared, we have been able to quickly determine that none of them have been him. But we appreciated the continued vigilance of our communities throughout Alaska.
You are so LOVED and MISSED. There is nothing that we can not work through together as a family!
